Hon. Dapo Lam Adesina Distributes Sporting Kits worth Millions of Naira to Over 60 Football Clubs In Ibadan

In furtherance of his electioneering campaign promise to ensure the development of youths through sports in his constituency, Hon. Adedapo Lam Adesina, Member, representing Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Abuja has distributed sporting kits worth millions of naira to 62 youth football clubs across the constituency.

The initiative, which was formulated under the Omo Oloore Sports Development Scheme and the first of its kind in the history of Constituency representation in the State, was held at St. Luke’s College, Molete, Ibadan on Monday, 18th June, 2018.

The epoch making event, had in attendance, Stakeholders in the sporting arena in the State, especially at the grassroots level. Nigerian Football Coaches Association, Youth Department, the Nigerian Coaches Association, Ibadan/Ibarapa Zonal Council, as well as the Ibadan Society of Referees were well represented at the occasion.

Also in attendance were Chieftains and Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the two Local Governments, representatives of Community Development Councils (CDC) and other notable groups.

In his address, the initiator of the programme, who is also a former Commissioner for Youth and Sport in Oyo State, Hon. Adedapo Lam Adesina, disclosed that the development of sports, especially at the grassroots level was part of his campaign promises to the good people of Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency which he represents at the House of Representatives.

The young lawmaker noted that the Omo Oloore Sports Development Scheme was designed to ensure that the dream and aspirations of budding talents in his constituency come into reality.

While enunciating on various projects he has embarked upon to engage youths in the Constituency, Hon. Lam Adesina stated that the ongoing construction of Omo Oloore Mini Stadium at Oke-‘Badan High School, Oluyoro, Oke-Offa is to ensure that budding talents who will enhance the glory of sports in the Constituency and the State as a whole at both National and International competitions are discovered.

Omo Oloore reiterated further that he has been supporting grassroots sports at the primary and secondary school levels (public and private), and added that in year 2018 alone, over 30 schools benefitted from his Sports Development Scheme through their Annual School Inter-House Sports Competitions, where trophies, footballs and financial support were rendered to the schools for sports development.

The former Youth and Sport Commissioner in the state promised not to relent in his effort in ensuring that the bar of sporting activities in the constituency is raised in order to meaningfully engage the youth, as well as reducing the level of social vices in the Constituency and the State in general.

In his comment, the Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Oyo State chapter, Niyi Alebiosu, commended Hon. Adedapo Lam Adesina for his interest in developing grassroots sports in his Constituency.

The SWAN boss called on other well-meaning individuals in the society to emulate the philanthropic gesture of Omo Oloore with a view to contributing to the development of sports in their respective domains.

The historical event, which was highlighted by a novelty match between Team Omo Oloore and the SWAN Team, where team Omo Oloore won by a goal, witnessed the presentation of sporting equipment such as jerseys, soccer boots, socks, shin guards and soccer balls worth millions of naira to 62 youth football clubs across Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency.
