Hon. Dapo Lam Adesina Launches Bursary Fund For Tertiary Institution Students

Hon. Adedapo Lam-Adesina, the lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives Abuja, has launched a bursary scheme in honour of his late father, Alhaji Lam Adesina. The scheme tagged, Lam Adesina Bursary for tertiary institution students was launched today Friday 3rd June,2016 in conjunction with the Federation of Ibadan Students Union(FIBSU).

The scheme, named after his late father, Lam Adesina, shines light on the like father like son dictum, accentuating Adedapo as a chip off the old block. Naming the scheme after his late father holds a huge significance and meaning to the legacy and ideals advanced by the Late Lam Ade.

The late Alhaji Adesina, who passed away in November 2012, was a renowned educationist and a former school principal, who later rose to become Oyo State Governor. His passion and commitment to education was second to none in the realm of his fellow players in the field.

GREAT LAM as he was simply called, was the pioneer president of the Federation of Ibadan Students Union, hence, the union’s joy to collaborate with his son, Adedapo, on this laudable project.

The launching of the scheme did not just go with fan fare. The young lawmaker ensured that some students benefitted at this initial stage. So, about 150 students selected across tertiary institutions, formed the pioneer beneficiaries of this programme which cost millions of Naira.

Adedapo explained that the scheme was to give back to the society and also to continue his father’s wish to ensure that bright and willing students were not hampered by financial constraints.

Just a week ago, through his Omo Oloore Education Support scheme, Hon Dapo Lam Adesina celebrated Children’s Day by giving out desktop/laptop computers, books, school bags and other educational materials to more than a hundred school children, as prizes for a quiz and debate competition he organised for schools within his constituency.

About 30 public and private primary and secondary schools were represented at the event which was the first ever FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS DEBATE AND QUIZ COMPETITION.

One of the beneficiaries Taiwo Abass who spoke during the event gave kudos to the young lawmaker and prayed for his success always,While others said they were surprised at the uncommon gesture of Omo Oloore.

Present at the well attended event were Representatives of Oyo Apc Chairman,Chief Akin Oke,Former Deputy Governor of Oyo State,Barrister Iyiola Okadokun,Chief Ayo Eniade,Mogaji Makinde,Chairmen of Apc in South East and North East,FIBSU President and all other Exco members,Leaders of different Communities,Former FIBSU presidents/Stakeholders,students and beneficiaries.
